This article reviews the efforts made in France during 1971 to try to improve road safety. These efforts concern the training of hospital staff, radio-telephone equipment for hospitals, installation of telephone kiosks, organization of first aid to casualties, creation of 70 mobiles units and liaison between hospitals and ambulances by means of telecommunications. A study is made of the evolution in accidents based on a recent publication entitled "car insurance statistics", published by the "association generale des societies d'assurance contre les accidents" (general association of accident insurance forms).
