THE INFLUENCE OF LOW TEMPERATURES ON THE CONCRETE OF THE SCHLEGEIS DAM
DER EINFLUSS VON TIEFEN TEMPERATUREN AUF DEN BETON DER SPERRE SCHLEGEIS
The extreme weather conditions to which dams in high mountain areas are suspected necessitate the production of concrete resistant to freezing and frost. Details are given of extensive tests carried out both in the laboratory and on the structure of the Schlegeis Dam to determine the influence of winter on the concrete and the protective measures needed. The tests showed that concrete made with aggregates having a large content of mica became frost resistant after two days.
