APPLICATIONS OF THE FINITE STRIP METHOD IN THE ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE BOX BRIDGES
THE GENERAL FINITE STRIP TECHNIQUE AND RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND APPLICATIONS IN THE ANALYSIS OF SINGLE SPAN AND MULTI- SPAN BOX BRIDGES ARE SUMMARIZED. A FLEXIBILITY PROCEDURE IS INCORPORATED FOR THE SOLUTION OF INDETERMINATE BRIDGES. EXTENSION OF THE STRIP METHOD TO THE ANALYSIS OF PRESTRESSING FORCES IS DESCRIBED, TOGETHER WITH THE THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF A LOWER ORDER FINITE STRIP COMPUTER PROGRAM (FISBOB). APPLICATION OF THE METHOD TO THE STUDY OF STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN MULTI-CELLULAR BRIDGE DECKS IS ALSO REPORTED. THE PRACTICAL USE OF FISBOB IS ILLUSTRATED BY THE ANALYSIS OF A POST-TENSIONED SPINE BOX BRIDGE. /AUTHOR/
