ICELANDIC PUMICE USED IN LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE CONCRETE
THIS PAPER DESCRIBES AN INVESTIGATION INTENDED TO EXAMINE THE POSSIBILITY OF USING ICELANDIC PUMICE AS LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE IN CONCRETE. THE RESULTS INDICATED THAT TO REACH A COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 300 KG/CM2 IT WAS NECESSARY TO INCREASE THE CONTENT OF NATURAL GRAVEL TO ABOUT 22% BY VOLUME, AND THE CEMENT CONTENT TO 450-500 KG/CM3, WHICH INCREASED THE DENSITY OF THE CONCRETE TO ABOUT 1700-1750 KG/M3.
