DO MOTORCYCLIST HELMETS MAKE GOOD HEARING PROTECTORS?

Sixteen popular motorcyclist's helmets were tested for noise attenuation. Noise levels were measured at the ear of the operator with and without the helmet in place. Noise is generated by an accelerating motorcycle; the same vehicle was used for all tests. All helmets were found to provide minimal noise reduction except at very high speeds. /Author/
