THE SIGNIFICANCE OF A SECOND BLOOD-ALCOHOL TEST ON SAMPLES STORED FOR A LONG TIME

ZUM BEWEISWERT EINER ZWEITEN BLUTALKOHOIUNTERSUCHUNG IN LAENGER GELAGERTEN BLUTPROBEN

If there is only a slight difference between the first and the second test on blood-alcohol concentration, then doubts as to the correctness of the first test are not justified. The statistical evaluation of second tests seems to indicate that spontaneous contamination of the blood samples by bacteria has no significance with respect to possible alcohol losses. Great differences between first and second determination need careful explanation. Possible causes have to be investigated, with particular reference to the effects of bacterial contamination. /TRRL/
