QUESTIONS ON THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE DRIVING LICENCE

Difficulties sometimes arise in the awarding of penalties for drunken driving when it is a question of establishing the exceptional case where the accused is not actually unfit to be a driver. On the other hand a decision has to be made as to how long the driving ban caused by withdrawal of the driving licence has to last. The author discusses these difficulties, with particular reference to the need for individual treatment of different offenders. /TRRL/
