MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF FERROCEMENT IN TENSION, COMPRESSION AND FLEXURE
PROPIEDADES MECANICAS DEL FERROCEMENTO EN TRACCION, FLEXION Y COMPRESSION
The scope of this work was to summarize the experimental and theoretical studies carried out with the purpose of evaluating the mechanical characteristics of ferrocement. This knowledge will permit a more rational use of this material. The response of ferrocement to tensile, compressive and flexural stresses was thoroughly analyzed. A relation has been established between crack width and crack spacing for ferrocement elements under tensile stresses. The experimental results obtained show that, for predicting ferrocement properties, it is possible to use criteria already developed for the analysis of composite materials.
