LIGHT-WEIGHT AGGREGATE MANUFACTURE
FABRICARIAN DE AGGREGADOS ARTIFICIALES LIVIANAS
Different aspects of the production of artificial lightweight aggregates are discussed. The minimum conditions of the raw material are analysed so that an adequate expansion can be obtained. Two manufacturing processes are explained in detail and the advantages and disadvantages of both processes are analysed. Finally, a flow diagram is presented which includes some factors to be considered in selecting a plant for the production of structural lightweight aggregates. The conclusion is that neither of the two processes could be chosen a priori as optimum. The final decision will depend on the particular characteristics of the raw material and the economic aspects involved in each alternative.
