THIRD GENERATION MARINE ENGINES ON THE WAY
A project to develop third generation marine gas turbine systems, which would include improvements in both the turbine itself and its ancillary systems, such as the regenerator, fuel-treatment system, and turbine-cleaning system, is described. Project goals and status are discussed, and expected hardware results are given in each of several tasks, including propulsion system development, ancillary system development, and research or marine systems engineering. Several technical accomplishments which have been achieved to date are also included in the article.
