COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN AND PRODUCTION CONTROL FOR SHIPBUILDING

To fully exploit the potential of the ship design and numerically controlled production computer programs evolved by the British Ship Research Association, a number of British shipbuilders are planning to put their own computers on-line with BSRA's computer. This system is known as BRITSHIPS, and it is made up of a set of computer programs dealing with different aspects of shipbuilding, especially in lines fairing, shell development, and piece part definition stages. This article briefly describes these various programs, and their individual capabilities.
