PILGRIM'S PROGRESS WITH THEIR KEYLESS PROPELLER FITTING SYSTEM
A keyless propeller fitting system is described, which at the present time is in operation on more than 100 ships of varying types. By using this system, surface damage to the propeller shaft, such as galling or frettage, has been greatly reduced, and this is due to the unique feature of the system which employs a sleeve of pearlitic cast iron permanently secured into the propeller boss. Several advantages of this system are given, and the sequence of operations for fitting a keyless propeller are also described.
