FLAME HARDENING OF RAIL HEADS
FLAMMVERGUETEN VON SCHIENENKOEPFEN
A heat treating method, derived from flame hardening, was developed at the West German Federal Railroads to improve the strength properties of rails in order to prevent damages caused by higher loads and increased speeds.
