Cybersecurity of autonomous ships in offshore wind farms

The article presents the issue of autonomous ships, particularly the potential for disruption to their operation in the offshore wind farm area due to cyberattacks. The main objective of the article is to analyze the threat that may occur in an offshore wind farm complex, which includes offshore wind turbines, research, and service ships that operate offshore wind parks. The expert research that has been carried out is intended, among other things, to demonstrate the risks faced by offshore wind farms in which autonomous ships will be used. Currently, increased traffic on wind farms contributes to an increase in the number of collisions or accidents. It is particularly important to look for solutions that allow for a quick response and appropriate planning of actions to minimizes hazards, which will consequently increase the safety of offshore wind farms. Furthermore, the use of autonomous ships and autonomous surface and underwater vehicles would minimize the operating costs of offshore wind farms, which could consequently reduce the cost of electricity production.
