DISCUSSIONS OF RELATIVE MAGNITUDE OF GOVERNING PARAMETERS IN THE PROBLEM OF SLENDER SHIPS IN WAVES
The linearized theory of ship motion among waves with forward speed assumes smallness of two parameters, i.e. the wave steepness ratio and the ship slenderness ratio. There are other parameters, however, which govern the flow field. They are frequency parameter and Froude number. As the relative order of magnitude between each parameter changes, the leading term of the inner solution for the fluid motion changes accordingly. Discussions are given for several cases.
