REFLECTIONS ABOUT LNG AND ITS MARITIME TRANSPORT
REFLEXIONS SUR LE G.N.L. ET SON TRANSPORT MARITIME
History and prehistory of natural gas liquefaction and LNG transportation by ships are recalled. The present ratio of the technology is discussed. Possibilities of transporting liquefied natural gas in the form of methanol, maritime transport under very high pressure at ordinary temperature, transport by aircraft, and undersea gas pipelines, are considered. Future development of natural gas sources is surveyed. The research necessary to satisfy the energy demand is envisaged.
