NOTES ON STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF CONTAINER SHIPS
The development of container ships has led to designs quite different from those of conventional ships and many new problems, especially in the field of structural analysis, had and still have to be solved. Although a large amount of theoretical and experimental work has been completed and described in the literature, especially also in Japan, the Naval Architect is still confronted with problems and ambiguities, for instance in the idealization of the structure, when analysing container ships. Therefore, it is hoped to be of interest to give an outline of the state of the art of structural analysis of container ships, beginning with the analysis of the loading and leading up to the determination of composite stresses.
