ALGORITHM FOR ESTIMATING HORSEPOWER
Details are given of an algorithm from which estimates of effective horsepower required can be obtained for preliminary ship design purposes. The process is illustrated by an adaptation of the Moor Small method in which the basic data are reduced to a two dimension array dependent on the block coefficient and speed length ratio. The calculation is shown as a subroutine written in time-sharing FORTRAN, and a table gives sample results.
