DETERMINING TIRE PRESSURE VARIATIONS IN PRIVATE CAR AND TRUCK TIRES BY MEANS OF A CAPACITOR TRANSMITTER WITH INSIDE ELECTRODE
BESTIMMUNG DER RADLASTSCHWANKUNGEN BEI PKW-UND LKW-REIFEN MITTELS EINES KAPAZITIVEN GEBERS MIT INNENELEKTRODE
Tire pressure has so far been measured by capacitive methods based on determining the distance between an electrode next to the tire and a road/body backplate electrode. The new method puts the precision capcitor into the tire. The shape of the tire necessitates a short cylindrical precision capacitor. The backplate electrode in the tire necessitated electrically conductive artificial rubber material in order to resist the deformation conditions in the tire. The new tire capacitor transmitter was tested and showed great advantages, especially so that it can be calibrated on a testing stand, that it is independent of the characteristics of the axle construction of the test vehicles and that if allows to measure dynamic tire pressures on double twin truck tires.
