CONGESTION PROBABILITY AND WAITING TIME AT TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS
UEBERLASTUNGSWAHRSCHEINLICHKEIT UND WARTEZEITEN AN LICHTSIGNALANLAGEN
This research is concerned with the calculation of signal programs for controlled road junctions. Different models are used for the stochastic description of traffic flow at controlled intersections. The models arrive at queue systems which are analyzed by means of Markov chains. A survey of the method of the generating function is given and the stationary and asymptotic distribution is introduced. Terms like congestion probility, queue length, back-up and mean waiting time are defined and equations are given. some remarks on the numerical calculation of these values are given and a data program is developed. Tables with the numberical values are given.
