ALGORITHM FOR STATISTICAL CALCULATION OF SHIPS SHAFTLINES
An algorithm is described which is the basis of a system of computer programs enabling the following problems to be solved-to analyze the effect of the self-loads of the individual shafts and of the assembling accuracy on the condition of the shaftline, when assembled; to assess the the condition of the shafting, when dismantled, by measuring angles and displacements at the couplings; to calculate the distribution of bearing loads depending on extraneous loads, displacement of bearings in assembly, hull deformation, etc; and to study the effect of the rpm-dependent propeller thrust and the resulting vertical component of the transverse force and moment acting on the end of the propeller shaft. In addition, the system incorporates programs intended to facilitate the analysis of strain gage measurement results.
