CALCULATIONS OF TIME PHASES IN SIGNALLING SYSTEMS
UNTERSUCHUNGEN ZUR BERECHNUNG VON ZWISCHENZEITEN IN LICHTSIGNALPROGRAM
Time phases are used to guarantee the timing of a safe traffic signal phase change. A method has to be found that can determine adequate time phases for a standard situation and that guarantees the driver similar time phases in similar situations. This report reviews available calculations of time phases in the literature and describes three different types of basic data used. The report makes proposals for calculating time phases. It always distinguishes between approaching and exiting the signalling area. Appendices 1 and 2 document details and types of measurements.
