TRAFFIC FLOW AT HIGHWAY ENTRANCE RAMPS IN URBAN AREAS--RESEARCH ON PERFORMANCE OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION THROUGH SIMULATION
VERKEHRSABLAUF AN AUTOBAHNEINFAHRTEN IN BALLUNGSRAEUMEN. LEISTUNGSFAEHIGKEITSUNTERSUCHUNGEN VERSCHIEDENER BAU-UND BETRIEBSFORMEWN MITTELS SIMULATION
This report used as its methods of computation those methods found in the Highway Capacity Manual of 1965. It defines the parameters of the research and gives traffic measurements, including desirable speeds, weaving section data, and limits of influencing vehicles. A vehicle following model, acceleration and braking capacity and behavior in the simulation model, theoretically determined vehicle following distance (time gaps), vehicle distribution over lanes, speed in the entrance ramp area, and changing lanes are also included in the study. The results of the simulation model are a number of recommendations for the construction of highway entrance ramps and for the operation of traffic flow at entrance ramps.
