Construction of a Composite Operation Model of Municipal Railway to Satisfy Multi-Functionality and Case Study
To improve the operational efficiency of municipal railways, operators can consider adopting various operation modes and combinations. This paper discusses advantages and necessity of the combined operation mode of “express-local trains + cross-line.” The conditions of operation and passenger flow required for express-local train operation and cross-line operation are discussed in three aspects: traffic organization, passenger flow characteristics, and carrying capacity. Based on the analysis of the line data and passenger flow OD data, the candidate solutions for the “express-local trains + cross-line” combined operation mode were compiled and solved in the model. The optimal solution can reduce the total travel time of all passengers by 5.2%, which proves the feasibility of the model; finally, according to the future development direction of the region, different solutions are recommended.
