WILL YOUR NEW LIFT TRUCK USE THIS REVOLUTIONARY NEW ENGINE?
Teledyne Continental Motors, Industrial Products Division has eclipsed the automotive community by producing a modified gasoline engine that offers many superior features needed by industry. The head casting has been changed to take advantage of a developed combustion chamber with provision for two spark plugs per cylinder. This was done to accommodate the new leaner fuel mixes. The carburetor is a high velocity two-barrel type using a new method of controlling the air/fuel ratio by modulating the internal air bleed. The air modulator replaces the acceleration pump and power jet system found on conventional carburetors and also acts as an anti-stalling device. The new solid state capacitor discharge ignition system makes the jump from the distributor with all its wearing parts to a non-contact type system with no wearing parts. It remains on time at all speeds for the life of the engine. There are no moving mechanical parts in the system. This system is partially responsible for the reduction of pollutants. Test results for the six cylinder model indicate fuel consumption in reduced by about 20 percent nitrous oxides are reduced 63 percent, hydrocarbons 60 percent and carbon monoxide reduced 96.8 percent. No pollution control devices are used on the engine.
