AIR RESISTANCE OF THE TRAINS IN A TUNNEL
DER LUFTWIDERSTAND DER ZUEGE IM TUNNEL
It is shown how the air resistance in a tunnel can be directly derived from the condition of flow obtained when the train passes through the tunnel. An example is presented to demonstrate that the calculated values are in agreement with the actual test results. The formulas for calculating the frictional forces at the tunnel wall and the compressive and frictional forces at the train are given.
