RAILS FOR HIGHLY STRESSED TRACKS
SCHIENEN FUER HOCHBEANSPRUCHTE GELEISE
The increasing tonnage and speeds in grade operation, such as on the Gotthard line of the Swiss National Railways impose exacting demands on the quality of the rails. Qualification of Krupp's nominally 0.7C-0.7Si-1Mn-1Cr steel for such service is indicated by its tensile strength of 110 to 125 kp/sq mm, wear and shelling resistance, strain hardening, impact resistance, and weldability.
