FROST INSULATING MATERIALS IN ROADS
TJAELISOLERANDE MATERIAL I VAEGAR
THIS REPORT IS A SURVEY OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WORK CONCERNING FROST INSULATING MATERIALS PERFORMED BY THE NATIONAL SWEDISH ROAD AND TRAFFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE. DIFFERENT INSULATING MATERIALS SUCH AS BARK, MINERAL WOOL, CELLULAR PLASTICS AND LIGHTWEIGHT EXPANDED CLAY WERE TESTED IN SITU FOR SOME YEARS. CERTAIN MATERIALS WERE SHOWN TO HAVE GOOD FROST PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES. THE INVESTIGATIONS ARE BEING CONTINUED AND NEW MATERIALS AND METHODS ARE CONTINOUSLY TESTED. IN THE REPORT FROST MECHANICS, FROST DAMAGE AND FROST INSULATING METHODS ARE TREATED FROM A PRACTICAL POINT OF VIEW. THE DOCUMENT IS IN SWEDISH
