USE OF MINIMUM TIME TRACK DATA IN AIRWAYS DESIGN OF LONG RANGE AND OVER-OCEAN ROUTES
This study investigates the feasibility of utilizing time tracks in airways design for long range and over-ocean routes. From 9 data samples, the geographical range, distributions, and characteristic track configurations are delineated for each of the three routes. Networks of fixed tracks of varying complexity are derived that approximate actual minimum time track configurations. Results indicate that networks of fixed tracks can be derived that preserve the major benefits of minimum time track u sage.
