BOSTON VERTIPORT

Vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft promise substantial reductions in door-to-door travel times and travel costs for intercity trips up to several hundred miles in length, provided that convenient locations can be found for metropolitan vertiports, that appropriate connections can be made to the local road and public transportation networks, and that ground facilities and procedures can be designed to vastly simplify the nodal activities of the transportation process. BOSTON VERTIPORT is an exploration of the design feasibility of a central-city VTOL airport for Boston. It will serve as a point of departure for more detailed design investigations.
