ASSESSMENT OF COMMERCIAL VTOL AIRCRAFT WITH ROTOR OR PROPELLER LIFT SYSTEMS
VTOL aircraft with rotor or propeller lift systems are evaluated for use in commercial short-haul transport systems. It is shown that the next generation of helicopters, with increased passenger capacity, speed, range and reliability, will allow profitable operation on short haul intercity routes, and will therefore probably pioneer and provide the initial stimulus for this type of service by VTOL aircraft.
