THE PROFITABILITY OF AIR FREIGHT
The jet freighter was introduced into scheduled service a few years ago and has been operating profitably, ever since. In many cases the profits from jet freighters are being more than offset by losses incurred in services provided by piston powered all-cargo transports. Cargo carried in the holds of passenger craft have always been profitable. The profitability of jet freighters, the problems involved in determining total cargo income, and the long range outlook for air cargo were examined.
