BEHAVIOR OF THREE INSTRUMENTED DRILLED SHAFTS UNDER SHORT TERM AXIAL LOADING

This study is concerned with the analysis of the behavior of three full-scale instrumented drilled shafts under axial loading. Two of the shafts were in soil profiles containing sand and clay while the third was entirely in clay. The data from the load tests were correlated with soil properties and the correlations were compared with results from previous research. Based on the test results and a reevaluation of previous tests, some improvements in the design criteria for drilled shafts in clay have been recommended.
