Ground Improvement Methods -- Volume I

This is the reference manual for FHWA NHI Course No. 132034 on Ground Improvement Techniques and contains eleven standalone Technical Summaries on specific ground improvement methods. The summaries provide current practice for design, construction, contracting and quality procedures for the respective technologies. The individual summaries are intended to serve as a primer on a particular subject and are not intended to present a comprehensive or complete thesis on the technology. Companion, comprehensive technical references for each technology are provided. This volume, Volume I, contains the following technical summaries: (1) Consolidation Using Vertical Drains; (2) Lightweight Fills; (3) Vibro-Compaction; (4) Dynamic Compaction; (5) Stone Columns; and (6) Deep Soil Mixing.
