MUNICIPAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (MTAP)

This is an interim report on an experimental project operating since 1972 to connect the needs of five Alabama cities to state and federal technological resources. Using the Federal-State-County Government Program of the Cooperative Extension Service as a system model, the Auburn University School of Engineering and the five cities secured the support of the Intergovernmental Science Program of the National Science Foundation to initiate an experimental Municipal Technical Assistance Program (MTAP). Technical assistance has been provided in such areas as paving, street lighting, airport planning and hangar construction, minor surveying and mapping, drainage, budget systems, maintenance scheduling, property inventory systems, garbage collection routing, organization charts, recreation area planning, and traffic systems.
