AN INVESTIGATION OF THE PARAMETERS INFLUENCING BOND BEHAVIOR WITH A VIEW TOWARDS ESTABLISHING DESIGN CRITERIA
Tests for fifty two and three bar specimens without dowel forces are reported. These specimens represent the completion of the first phase of a comprehensive study of the bond behavior of deformed reinforcing bars. The entire study has used the specially designed W.Va. University bond specimen. The data are discussed in terms of the strength of the materials used, the specimen geometry and the web reinforcement. A lower bond equation for predicting the ultimate bond stress is presented in terms of bar diameter, concrete strength, bar surface area and the cover and spacing of the bars. The report is accompanied by 18 figures and a full set of bond-slip curves for all of the specimens tested.
