PILOT RESEARCH STUDY OF TRANSPORTATION SAFETY

This pilot research study used survey approaches on research of transportation safety to determine major gaps in research and development efforts in government and institutional activities. The objective was development of a transportation safety model, delineating interests involved in concepts of safety in transportation activities. There is no consensus about what safety in transportation is, a rational approach must incorporate all alternative viewpoints--subjective rational, and objective perspective. In technical research little effort has been spent on types of damages. The Transportation Development Agency must specialize their efforts and there should be a coordination of provincial government efforts. Transportation safety is less a problem than it is an issue, and requires extensive research.
