CORRELATION BETWEEN FRACTURE TOUGHNESS TEST PROCEDURES FOR FERROUS ALLOYS
Correlation has been developed between the Dynamic Tear (DT) test, an engineering fracture-toughness test, and the plan-strain stress-intensity parameter for steel alloys. Critical flaw size at which crack instability will occur may then be approximated for a designated stress level using formal fracture-mechanics equations.
