Promoting sustainable development: A study of China's bicycle sharing industry policies based on text analysis
As a nascent industry driven by digital technology, bike sharing has had a positive impact on public life, transportation systems, and the social environment. However, it has also brought about certain challenges, including uncivilized behavior in bike usage, illegal parking, malicious destruction, over-supply, improper handling of discarded bikes, and occupation of public spaces. These challenges have hindered the development of shared bicycle systems. In order to promote the sustainable development of bicycle sharing, this study investigates the government governance model of China's bike-sharing industry using policy text analysis. The research identifies three primary and nine secondary indicators through word frequency and co-word analysis. A comprehensive study of bike-sharing policies across 36 Chinese cities was conducted, identifying the main policy objectives, issues, and providing feasible suggestions. The study makes three significant contributions: it enhances the understanding of bike-sharing government governance models, it utilizes policy text analysis to quantitatively extract policy frameworks and indicators, and it offers a comprehensive evaluation of China's current bike-sharing policies, serving as a crucial reference for future amendments.
