Exploring the Links of Mobility-as-a-Service Platform Functionalities
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) includes services related to public and other shared mobility means of transport via an integrated mobile platform. Despite the existing initiatives and research regarding the optimal sets of platform features, the relationships and importance of these features (when seen as a network) are still under investigation. This study explores the relationships of MaaS platform features from the perspective of mobility service providers (MSPs) and commuters. The authors collected data via a focus group with five mobility experts and a survey (71 Dutch commuters). The results show that optimizing the number and use of the vehicles and appropriate data handling are the essential features of a MaaS platform for the MSPs. Although retrieval of personal information and additional services (e.g., concert tickets) are welcome, they are considered less significant for the commuters.
