Holistic Ship Design for Green Shipping
Responding to the urgent needs for marine emissions reduction, the recently completed Horizon 2020 European Research project HOLISHIP (2016-2020) developed suitable tools and software platforms, as necessary for the creation of innovative design solutions meeting the low emission strategic objectives. The present paper is presenting the multi-objective optimisation approach to green shipping of HOLISHIP and demonstrates a subset of its functionality by presentations of two design case studies, namely a green RoPAX and a full electric Double-Ended Ferry. The conducted optimisation studies show the attractiveness of the developed designs in terms of life-cycle economy and environmental impact.
