Preparing for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility: State-of-the-Research Topical Paper #1: Models for Data Sharing and Governance for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility

This paper focuses on policy issues around data sharing, such as privacy, security, data governance, data management, open record requests, and user consent with the context of automated vehicles and shared mobility. The paper examines the platforms and standards for data sharing, as well as the value of data. The study found that discussion of data sharing and automated vehicles need to be focused on potential use cases, that regulations being implemented are being developed without considering data standards, and that new privacy laws may affect the collection of data for safe operations.
