Preparing for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility: State-of-the-Research Topical Paper #3 Infrastructure Enablers for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility

This paper focuses on the critical elements of infrastructure for automated vehicles and shared mobility. This includes vehicle to infrastructure communications, pavement markings and striping, signage, pavement condition, and intelligent transportation systems. The increase in use of automated vehicles necessitates an understand of what highway infrastructure to prioritize. Currently, highway infrastructure is designed for human drivers and may require adaptation for automated vehicles.
