BUS STREETS IN CENTRAL URBAN AREAS

The aim of this study was to examine the effects due to the introduction of bus streets on various population groups. The bus streets studied in many cases allowed bicycles, taxis, and distribution vehicles. Results of the study are presented in this report and include data on the following: size of street cross sections; number of vehicles, bus passengers, and pedestrians; trafficability; traffic safety; noise; air pollution; turnover in the retail trade; and attitudes.
