CEB-FIP CALCULATION MANUAL - STRUCTURAL EFFECTS OF TIME- DEPENDENT DEFORMATIONS IN CONCRETE (SECOND PROPOSED DRAFT - FEBRUARY 1972)

THE AIM OF THIS MANUAL IS TO OFFER METHODS OF CONDUCTING A STUDY OF CREEP IN STRUCTURAL CONCRETE; THE BASIC PRINCIPLE CONSISTS IN PRESENTING MATHEMATICAL SOLUTIONS WHICH CAN BE UNDERSTOOD BY PROJECT ENGINEERS. THE FIRST CHAPTER PRESENTS A CRITICAL DISCUSSION OF CURRENT METHODS OF CREEP ANALYSIS. OF INTEREST FOR APPLICATION ARE METHODS WHICH GIVE A SATISFACTORY INTERPRETATION OF CONCRETE BEHAVIOUR BY MEANS OF ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICAL FORMULAE. APPROXIMATION LEVELS ARE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. A METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR THE FIRST DEGREE WHICH IS BASED ON A SIMPLIFIED CREEP LAW. FOR THE SECOND DEGREE TWO METHODS ARE PUT FORWARD, ONE OF WHICH REQUIRES A COMPUTER. THE SECOND CHAPTER DEALS WITH THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE PROPOSED METHODS AND WITH THE SELECTION OF THE NUMERICAL VALUES TO INTRODUCE FOR SOLVING EQUATIONS. IN THE THIRD CHAPTER A STUDY IS CONDUCTED OF THE MORE USUAL PROBLEMS OF CREEP ANALYSIS AND SOLUTIONS ARE OFFERED IN A FORM WHICH FACILITATES THEIR DIRECT APPLICATION.
