WHEN THE STEAM RAILROADS ELECTRIFIED
Recent successes in Europe and Japan have generated a renewed interest in the electification of mainline railroads in the U.S. Growing concern for the environment and now the energy crisis have further stimulated this interest. It is perhaps appropriate that at this time of renewed interest, a definitive book should appear on past mainline electrifications in North America. This book traces the development of electrified railroads from the earliest days. The book contains significant information on the how and why of the past electrifications, and one chapter is devoted to the future of electrification in the U.S. /HRIS/
