Research on Operation Characteristics of Curbside Traffic Flow in Aviation Hub
The analysis of traffic flow operation characteristics of an aviation hub curbside is the key in determining its capacity and geometric parameters. However, two motion behaviors of parking, dropping off passengers, and driving out quickly make curbside neither a continuous nor a discontinuous flow facility. Focusing on unique traffic flow characteristics and characterization, the research adopts the numerical simulation method to measure the vehicle driving-in speed, driving-out speed, and other parameters. Then, spatiotemporal changes in traffic flow speed along single-aisle curbside facilities under the saturated state are analyzed, and the curbside facilities’ speed and flow analysis diagram are generated. The results show that different from the basic diagram of the traffic flow of continuous flow facilities, the speed and flow on the side of the lane show periodic changes in five different motion states and present an “axe”-type change pattern.
