Direct Air Capture by Moisture Swing Adsorption

Moisture swing adsorption, which controls the adsorption and desorption of CO₂ through the water content of adsorbents, is a novel method for direct air capture. In this study, to clarify the adequate management of adsorbents with cross-link, the authors investigated the effect of adsorbent water content on the CO₂ adsorption capacity. Additionally, the effect of water quality, which is used for the desorption process, was investigated. Results showed that the adsorption capacity increases when the adsorbent slightly contains water. Moreover, the authors clarified that nitrate and sulfate ion concentrations equivalent to river do not reduce the adsorption capacity.
