COMPARISON BETWEEN FIELD MEASUREMENTS AND ELASTIC AND NON-LINEAR FINITE ELEMENT SOLUTIONS OF THE FLEXIBILITY SECTIONS OF THE S 12/2 EXPERIMENTAL ASPHALT PAVEMENT
This report describes the application of linear elastic and non-linear elastic finite element computer programs to the prediction of critical strains in the bituminous layers of a flexible pavement. A comparison of measured and calculated stresses over a range of surfacing thicknesses (25MM to 100MM) for continuously graded asphaltic concrete and gap-graded bituminous surfacing showed good agreement. /TRRL/
