Evaluation of Lane Reduction and Late Merge Signing
This research project explores and evaluates the effectiveness of different static late merge signing for use on arterials. The research team collected data through a laboratory and a field study. The laboratory study assessed the comprehension of the different sign alternatives and determined which sign series to evaluate in the field. The field study evaluated a single sign series at 12 different sites across 3 States to evaluate driver behavior in response to the signs.
